  2.  Win 95 animated start-up logo installation instructions
  3. ================================================================

  5. !   *.sys file type is usually hidden in most people's computers 
  6.     under Win95.  Hence, you might have trouble in finding *.sys 
  7.     files for copying files.  To see these hidden files, you can 
  8.     use either suggestion below. 
  9.  
  10.     suggestion a.   go to Explorer
  11.                        choose View menu, then select Options...
  12.                           in the dialog, enable "Show all files"
  13.  
  14.     suggestion b.   use a DOS window, in which most *.sys files 
  15.                     can be viewed normally
  16.

  18. 0.  Extract the new .SYS file to a temporary directory.
  19.  
  20. ----------------------------------------------------------------
  21. 1.  Move (backup) original "start-up" logo, "LOGO.SYS" from the
  22.     root directory of your boot drive, usually C:\ to another
  23.     temporary directory.
  24.  
  25.      (If you are using a compression utility or cannot locate
  26.       the logo.sys file, please see the notes below.)

  29. 2.  Use DOS window or Explorer to copy new logo file to the 
  30.     root directory, renaming the new copy to "LOGO.SYS"
  31.  
  32.      (If you are using a compression utility, please see the 
  33.       notes below.)

  37.             copy c:\temp_dir\xrxlogo.sys c:\logo.sys

  40. 3.  Restart your computer and you're done!

  47. * If you are using a compression utility on your boot drive, 
  48.   you must put logo.sys in the host for that drive.
  49.   (For example, if drive C: is compressed and its host is the G: 
  50.    drive, then logo.sys should be placed in the root directory 
  51.    of the G: drive.)
  52.  
  53. * The default logo.sys is embedded in io.sys file.
  54.   If you cannot find logo.sys in your drives, including the host 
  55.   drive (see above), chances are Win95 is using the logo that is 
  56.   embedded in io.sys as your start up logo.  In this case, you 
  57.   don't have logo.sys to backup.    Simply place the new logo.sys 
  58.   in the root directory of your boot (host) drive. 
  59.   Logo.sys in the root directory will take precedence of the one 
  60.   embedded in io.sys file.  To get back to the original win95 
  61.   logo, simply rename the logo.sys to other name.

  63. * To restore the original win95 logo, you must save (backup) the 
  64.   file in step 1.  Then just copy the original logo to the 
  65.   designated directory.
  66.  
  67. * You can create your own Win95 logo files.  They must be in 
  68.   320 x 400 (256 colors) bitmap format.  Although the real size 
  69.   displayed is 640 x 400, Win95 will stretch these logo files 
  70.   when displaying them.  If you want to create an animated logo,
